The interview process was quite interesting, especially since it was my first in 30 years. They asked detailed questions about my technical experience, which made me wonder if I was truly the right fit for the position and if I could handle the duties. I get it, though, as they need to look out for the company's best interests. It really brought me back to my days as an E-3 in the Marine Corps.

I met with my potential direct manager at a coffee shop in a quiet spot. He introduced himself and the company, then went over the job details and responsibilities. While explaining the tasks, he asked about my relevant experience and I shared examples from my past. It was a very relaxed, back-and-forth conversation, truly the best interview experience I've had in over 20 years in this field.

I found this role on LinkedIn and heard back about three days later. First, I had a 15-minute phone screen with the project manager, where we talked about my experience and strengths. The PM was super helpful and answered my questions. Then, I had a 30-minute Teams interview with the Project Manager and a Sr. Data Analyst. I got an offer by email shortly after. The whole thing took about a week.

They asked me a bunch of questions about why this internship is a good fit for me and my degree. I talked about times I did well and times I didn't. The interviewer was cool about me not having experience in some stuff since I made up for it with my schooling.
