First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UScellular.
Sales Consultant
I applied online and got a call to set up a phone interview. The same person who called to set it up, then called to do the interview. She was eating and making a lot of noise, which was unprofessional. The only reason I stayed on the line was because it was the highest paying commission job in my area. After the interview, she said she'd pass my info to the local store for a 1:1 interview. Several days later, I got an email saying they'd gone with other candidates.
- How well can you answer questions while I'm eating and making noise?
Sales Consultant
I applied online and a recruiter reached out. I got an interview date about a week later. The interview itself was enjoyable, with the sales manager making it very clear and less intimidating. The questions were quite specific, which worked out well given my five years in cell phone retail. I could provide detailed scenarios, which was good. It's been a week, and I just spoke with the recruiter today. All that's left is the background check before hopefully getting an offer soon.
- Can you describe a situation where a customer struggled to understand an issue and how you helped them resolve it to their satisfaction?
Sales Consultant
I had a phone interview with the recruiter that went really well, I thought I had a good chance. But then I never heard back about a face-to-face interview. After waiting two weeks, I called the recruiter. She was happy I called and said she'd call me back in a few hours, mentioning they were having face-to-face interviews that Friday. I waited all afternoon, but she didn't call. The next day, I called again because I really wanted that interview. I was told the process for that store had ended and the person they hired started training on Monday. It was a huge disappointment. They found my resume on Monster.
- What makes you think you would be any good at retail?
