The interview process started with an initial recruiter screening call. This was followed by a more detailed interview with the recruiter, which included situational questions like dealing with an insubordinate employee. The secondary parts of this question were about how I corrected the situation and the steps I took for follow-up on the employee's behavior. This interview felt very scripted, with a list of questions from corporate. Even though the interviewers seemed to be just going through the motions, and their answers to my questions were vague, I realized within an hour that they weren't really interested in hiring me. I have almost 20 years of experience in sales, tech support, and software engineering, with 10 years of management experience. I felt the panel just had to complete a mandatory corporate process, likely because they had already decided on another candidate, which was a waste of everyone's time.

So I got an email from a recruiter saying they were interested and wanted me to fill out an application and take an assessment test and then they would call me. About a week later, I got a call back to set up an in-person interview. It was a panel interview and lasted about an hour. Now I just got a call back to take a five-hour test and they're doing the background check. I'm a bit worried about the employment verification because one of my previous employers hasn't been around for five years and the other one sold their business. So I'm not sure how they'll verify it. Anyone have experience with this? But overall, the interview process has been good so far. Feeling optimistic.

This interview process takes a long time, it took me almost three months to get a job offer after my first phone interview. The general process is a phone interview first, then an in-person interview, and there's a chance of another in-person interview. The interviews are unlike any others you've done before. The questions are related to specific past experiences you've had. If you're not specific, you won't do well.
