Disability Claims Supervisor
Applied in June 2025, received an email a couple weeks later to schedule the phone interview. Had the phone interview on 7/14. The recruiter said I did well and would move to the next step, giving different dates for follow-up. He first said "Wednesday" then "later this week," then said "if you don't hear anything beginning of the following week follow up with me." Didn't hear for a couple of weeks and thought I was out of the running. Then got a call stating they would be scheduling interviews and we agreed to 8/29. I then proceeded with that interview. The hiring manager said they would make decisions in 2-3 weeks. Followed up with the recruiter and manager on 9/18 to reaffirm interest, then received a response from the recruiter on 9/19 stating I was still in consideration. They would let everyone know when a decision was made. I followed up on 10/6 to inquire about the decision and again reaffirm interest, and was then contacted via phone the next day. The recruiter stated there was a budget cut and they had to close the position and he mistakenly thought he sent me the email letting me know, but again stated I did well and I was the candidate they were going to choose. It was a very odd and lengthy process, and I no longer want to work for you.
- As a newcomer, how would you manage an existing team?
Project Manager
I interviewed with USAble Life in spring 2025 and it was a great experience. The whole process felt really authentic and focused on people. My recruiter, Rebecca, was amazing – she kept me in the loop with clear timelines and updates. I always knew what was next, which is pretty rare these days. The interview process had an initial screening and then three more rounds. What was cool was that each interview felt like a real conversation. Instead of just firing questions to trip me up, the interviewers seemed genuinely interested in my background and what I thought. It felt like they were trying to see if I'd be a good fit for the team, not just find reasons to reject me. The talks were genuine and gave me a good sense of what it's like to work there. I got an offer and took the job. I've been here a few months now and I'm really happy with my decision.
- Can you describe a challenging situation you encountered and how you worked through it?
Sales Commission Analyst
I had an interview with the recruiter who said they'd contact me the next week for the next round with the manager. I didn't hear back, so I reached out again a week later and was told they were still interviewing first-round candidates and I'd be contacted for the next step. But nope, I just got a generic rejection email. The recruiter didn't even have the respect to let me know properly. Wow, another company that lies!! Not the kind of place I want to work for.
- Tell me about a time you handled a difficult situation.
Business Systems Analyst
The interview process was pretty straightforward and wrapped up quickly after the initial recruiter contact. I had a meeting with the hiring manager and team within a week. The team interview was a large 8-person panel, which I thought went really well. It was a bit unusual that the hiring manager introduced everyone on the team instead of each person speaking for themselves. I was told a decision would be made in a week, but after 3 weeks and a follow-up from me to the recruiter, I still haven't heard anything back. This definitely felt unprofessional and makes me wonder about the work environment and what to expect there.
- Can you share an instance when you made a mistake and explain how you fixed it?
