I met with the hiring manager first, and then a few weeks later I met with some of the team members. The interview had some tough questions, but the people I met with were really easy to talk to. They took turns asking questions, and they were very encouraging and seemed more interested in whether I would be a good personal fit than anything else.

I was really impressed by the info session and then they told me to apply online and that I'd get a call or letter to schedule an interview. I stayed in touch with the recruiter to make sure I got the letter. First, I found out my name was spelled wrong so I had to reapply. Then, 30 days after applying, I got an automated email from workday saying my application was withdrawn because it was incomplete. There's no contact info or way to follow up or reapply. I was really interested in the job, even though I knew the pay was low, and was excited about the work environment, but after this experience, I'll definitely stay away from USAA's incompetence.

I interviewed on campus and they liked me enough to bring me to Plano for another interview. It was disappointing that USAA didn't offer me an internship, especially given my qualifications (4.0 GPA in CS, veteran, previous internship/industry experience). The second interview might not have gone as well as it could have, which is surprising given I got offers from Lockheed Martin and Google later. I'm not sure what the USAA recruiters missed that others saw. The whole experience left a bad taste in my mouth.
