I had a phone interview with the HR recruiter first for some basic work background questions. Then, I had a more relaxed phone interview with the hiring manager where they asked personal questions, not just from a script. A few days later, the recruiter called to set up an in-person interview. They flew me to San Antonio, covered my hotel, and sent me a day-long agenda. I met with five people for about an hour each. Some asked standard 'tell me about a time' questions, while others were more spontaneous, but they were supposed to ask everyone the same questions for comparison. After I got home, I waited about three weeks to hear back, thinking I didn't get the job. When they finally called, it was to schedule another full day of interviews with more department heads, asking similar questions as before. This time, there was also a test/quiz on my knowledge, like reviewing items for rules and regulations. The whole process was very long; I had already accepted another job by the time they got back to me, even though I had told them I needed a quick response because of other opportunities.

First, a recruiter reached out with standard HR questions (a referral really helps!). Then, I had a 45-minute interview with the Hiring Manager, which was a great conversation. Within 3 days, I was invited to fly to San Antonio for an in-person panel interview with different stakeholders and peers. The company handled all the travel arrangements, which was very smooth and easier than other companies. The onsite interviews were one-on-one but spanned 6.5 hours with 6 different people. They were a mix of technical and business-level interviews. Everyone seemed very interested and prepared (using the STAR method is super useful!). Heads up: The background check is quite rigorous and involved, so be ready for a thorough review.

I applied online and heard back from the recruiter pretty quickly, within a few days. We had a chat a few days after that. Then, I was told there'd only be one more interview: an hour-long Zoom with the whole team and the hiring manager. It was super professional and fun, with really good, tough questions. It's been six weeks and I'm still waiting. I followed up with the recruiter after three weeks and they said the team hadn't decided yet. I don't really buy that, but it's pretty unprofessional to leave candidates hanging this long.
