Customer Service Representative
Had a 30 minute call with the recruiter first. They talked about the job details, working hours, my background, salary, where the job is located, and the training dates. Then, I had a one hour interview with the hiring manager. They asked me some questions about different situations I might face in the role. This interview could have been shorter or longer than an hour.
- Can you describe a situation where you had to deal with a challenging customer?
- What would you do if a customer was upset about a product or service?
- How would you respond to a customer who is not satisfied with the resolution provided?

I set up an interview, but the recruiter never called me at the scheduled time. After waiting 45 minutes, I emailed her, and she suggested rescheduling for the next day, claiming the system scheduled it without her knowledge. She sent a link to pick a new time, but there were no slots available, so I had to book it for a week later. During the interview, the recruiter couldn't answer my questions, telling me to check the website, which I'd already done. She seemed nervous and unfamiliar with the area, questioning my commute time from 45-50 minutes away, despite living in central Florida where longer commutes are common. She mentioned living in Texas and driving an hour and a half to her own job, which seemed contradictory. The whole experience was a turn-off.
- What skills do you possess?
- What qualifications do you bring to this role?
- Can you walk me through your previous job history?
Customer Service Representative
I filled out a long online application on Thursday afternoon. Then, I had my first phone interview with a recruiter on Tuesday morning, which lasted about 30-40 minutes. After that call, the recruiter set up my next interview with a manager for Thursday. My second phone interview was on Thursday afternoon and went for nearly an hour. I got good feedback and was asked to do a drug test on Friday morning. The drug test took a bit longer than expected, and then I got my official offer. It took less than a week to know I'd likely get the job. The first three days of the job were orientation, followed by a training program. You need to be available for the full first 8-12 weeks for training, and attendance is strictly monitored. However, after training, the company offers great PTO. The whole application and interview process was pretty simple and fast. I only had two phone interviews, no video or in-person meetings, even though the job is on-site.
- Can you share an instance where you assisted a frustrated customer?
- Describe how you managed that situation and what the result was.
