So first I had a phone chat with the recruiter, then I spoke with the Regional HR manager. After that, I had to do an online assessment. The next step was supposed to be an in-person interview, but then I got an email from the Director of Sales saying they decided to promote someone from within the company instead.

Applied online and got a quick call from the recruiter to set up an HR phone screen. It was a pretty typical screening asking about my past jobs and what I was looking for. After that, I had to do some online assessments, which took about an hour. A couple of days later, I was scheduled for an interview with the hiring manager at their office. The day before, I was told the hiring manager couldn't make it, but his boss would interview me instead. I went in, and ended up meeting with the regional president, who seemed busy and handed me off to a colleague who was late. The interview questions were standard, and then I was passed to another colleague who seemed to be put on the spot. Everyone was nice though, so no complaints there. The whole thing took about 2 hours. I emailed the interviewers and HR the next day. A week later, I hadn't heard back, so I called. I followed up by email and phone two more times over the next three weeks, but still no response. I found out later the job was filled internally, either the day of my interview or the day before. I had spent three days researching the role and company, and drove over three hours round trip. It feels like a waste of my time when they don't even bother to respond.
