First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at US Mobile.
Backend Software Engineer
First, there was a recruiter screen. Then, I had to do a take home assessment. Unfortunately, the company ghosted me after that with no response. The assessment itself was kind of vague, with instructions that weren't super clear. Honestly, it was a pretty poor candidate experience overall.
- Design a Java Spring Project (small to medium scale).
Manager
Had an HR interview first, then an in-person interview at their New York office. After following up post-interview, I was completely ghosted, which felt extremely unprofessional. It seems like with their rapid expansion, they're struggling to manage the interview process for all the open roles.
- Could you share specific details about your experience that would help us understand what we should or shouldn't do?
Full Stack Developer
I talked with the engineering director first, it was just a casual chat. He liked me and set up a second interview. Then, he gave me a simple coding problem from codeinterview.io, he was pretty cool about it. After that, he set me up with a final interview with the team. It seemed to go great, and then he called to say they were ready to offer me a job. But then 5 hours later, I got an email saying they're not moving forward. I was confused and asked for feedback but never heard back.
- Can you explain how to handle exceptions in Java?
- Could you answer a basic object-oriented programming question?
- What was your GPA?
Product Experience Analyst
The interview was a bit tough. It was a panel interview with 7 members. Aside from the generic stuff they asked me about what IoT is, what are the benefits and downsides of 5G connectivity, how I'd troubleshoot a faulty data connection on my phone, applications of 5G and IoT. how technically adept I am, my experience with IoT devices. They give you a series of topics to look up prior to the interview. After the interview they give you a written assessment and a psychometric one which takes about an hour to complete. I was told that my assessments were exceptional and that I'd be sent an offer letter in a matter of days.
- What do you understand by IOT?
- What are the pros and cons of 5G connectivity with reference to Pakistan?
- What are the applications of IoT and 5G?
