Applied online, but had to chase the recruiter multiple times to get an interview. The first interview was a quick 20-30 minute phone call with pretty straightforward questions. After that, I had a take-home assignment where I had to answer two questions in one to three paragraphs each, within about three hours. They were looking at grammar and sentence structure for that. The recruiter said a decision would be made the next day and that no news was good news. A week later, I still hadn't heard back, so I emailed for an update, but got no reply. Then, I finally got the rejection email the Friday before Labor Day weekend, right as we were heading out on vacation. Talk about a way to start the weekend.

I submitted my application online in early April. About a month later, I got a call to set up a phone interview. This call was one-on-one and lasted about 20 minutes. They asked me about my motivation for becoming an investigator and the skills I bring to the role. The interviewer then gave me basic details about the job, like salary and company-provided car/phone. They also emailed me two questions for a writing sample. The call ended with a promise of an update within two weeks. It actually took four weeks, but then I was contacted to schedule an in-person interview at the local office. This interview was with two people and lasted 30 minutes. I was asked questions about my background and some situational ones. It seemed to go well. I got a conditional job offer about a week later. After I accepted, I received emails with instructions for the next steps. The HR team has been really helpful.

Behavioral Technical

I sent in my application online and a recruiter called me the next day to ask some screening questions. After that went well, they scheduled a phone interview for two days later. The interviewer was on time. The interview took about 35 minutes and consisted of typical situational questions. The interviewer was helpful and honest, and I was able to get my questions answered. I had looked up this company and saw both good and bad things about it, and her responses were accurate. I was given two questions via email that I had to complete and send back within two hours. Even though I had other things going on, I was able to finish the assignment on time. Now I'm just waiting to hear if I'll move on to the next stage.

I got a call from an HR person who wanted to set up an interview. They were actually pretty flexible and let me drive to a different office in MD so I could interview the next day since I had a packed work week and couldn't get away any other time. I met with someone who wasn't my intended interviewer, but it was fine. She reviewed my work history and asked me questions, including one that was a bit odd: how I felt about working more than 40 hours a week to get stuff done. I said I understood, like anyone who wants the job would, but it kind of bugged me.
