I applied for a summer internship, not sure if it was posted on USAJOBS. About a month or two after applying, right before finals maybe, I had a phone interview. Then, I think I had another phone interview or maybe an in-person one, but with someone more senior. The third interview was definitely in person with the director and two people I'd met before. I heard back in a couple of days. The whole thing from the first interview to getting the offer took about two weeks. No security clearance was needed.

I emailed them with my resume and cover letter, and they responded to set up a phone interview. We talked about the projects and assignments I'd be working on and my past experience in similar roles. We also discussed my future interests and goals, and how my coursework in economics, development, and trade relates to the field.
