First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Ursinus College.
Executive Assistant
We started with a virtual meeting with some other assistants, where the questions felt pretty open-ended and a bit vague. Then, there was an in-person interview with a panel of seven people, including the Director of Human Resources, and we also did a campus tour. The questions during this part weren't super specific, but they asked for examples from my past work. It felt like there were mixed signals about where the role was headed and opportunities for growth.
- Can you share an instance where you used your time management abilities to handle competing demands?
Facilities Manager
It was a full day of interviews, with a bunch of shorter panel interviews to get a feel for everything at the institution. I talked with faculty, staff, and students, and also had a quick chat with the VP of operations. Even though I didn't get the job, it was still a good experience. I was really impressed by how passionate almost everyone I met seemed about the college. The Ursinus employees came across as really dedicated to their students.
- In what ways do you see your past military experience connecting with a higher education setting?
Assistant Professor
The interview process included an initial phone call, followed by a two-day in-person visit. This visit involved teaching and research presentations, some casual get-togethers, a dinner with faculty members, separate interviews with the dean and the president, and lunch with students. A key part of the onsite was a teaching presentation based on curriculum provided the week before.
- What is your motivation for seeking this position at our institution?
Admissions Counselor
The staff were nice and knew their stuff. The interview got set up fast and I met a bunch of people from the department. They made sure I knew what the job involved. They asked reasonable questions and gave me space to talk about what I want to achieve. Overall, it was a good experience.
- Can you tell me about your previous work history?
- What's your availability to join the team?
