First, they reviewed my CV and cover letter. Then, I had a short call to learn more about the company. After that, there was a 30-minute virtual interview where they asked standard behavioral questions and a short technical task. I haven't heard back even after asking for feedback.

The assessment centre involved a technical assessment, an interview, and a group activity which included a presentation. The technical assessment had questions specific to your degree, so mechanical engineering grads got different questions than chemical engineering grads. The interview was pretty chill. For the group presentation, we were given a brief and had about 5 minutes to get ready, then 10 minutes to present.

I was contacted on LinkedIn by a recruiter. After submitting my CV, I was invited for an interview directly with Urenco. I was informed it would take a few hours, so I booked a holiday from my current job. The interview was expected to be about an hour, followed by a 45-minute maths test. I was told the test would be basic, with simple sums like percentages and rounding. Since I hadn't done maths in nearly 20 years, I revised. The interview itself was with three men. While I felt fairly confident, the direct, one-by-one questions were challenging. They seemed more interested in what I would do in the role rather than my past experience. I was nervous speaking to three unknown people. It went okay, then two people left, leaving me with one person to do the maths test. It felt very uncomfortable doing a written test with someone watching. Some questions were simple, others were very difficult, contrary to what I was told about it being a basic test. I don't consider multiplying decimals by cubed numbers to be basic. It felt irrelevant to the job, especially given my background. If my suitability is judged by a test, I'm not sure I'd want to work there. It felt a bit old-fashioned and like a 'boys club'. The pay was good, but I'm not sure about the work environment.

Standard process for engineering interviews, Began with a competency interview, questioning previous roles from my CV, then onto the technical interview. They showed me a PID from their waste processing plant, asking how I would improve their process and also asked how I would specifically tackle a sprinkler and water supply problem.
