Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Upwork.
Senior Software Engineer
The interview process was pretty good and professional. First, I had a chat with a recruiter to get things started. After that, there was a technical test to check my skills. The last part was a panel interview with some team leads where they asked me about my experience, how I solve problems, and if I've worked remotely before.
- Tell me about a time you juggled multiple projects with tough deadlines.
- In a freelancing setting, how do you manage disagreements with clients?
- What would you do to foster trust with clients when working remotely?
Software Engineer
I'm about to have my first interview for a Software Engineer job, which will have behavioral questions and a technical coding round. I've been using LeetCode to prepare, but I'm still a bit worried about how fast I can code and also explain my thinking process out loud. I'm also not sure about the most common behavioral topics, like teamwork, conflicts, or leadership. If anyone has done SWE interviews recently, I'd really appreciate some practical prep advice.
- What is your years of experience?
Software Developer
The interview process is smooth, requiring a simple question answer and face verification to remove fake candidates. Upwork has evolved its interview process to fit right into the balance.
- Can you explain how to incorporate external CSS into an HTML document?
