First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Uptycs.
Software Engineer
I had my interview at Uptycs Bangalore. It was a quick two-week process, starting from an assessment all the way to the final chat with the MD. First up was an assessment covering SQL and programming. Then came a round to check my basic coding and programming skills. The third round was a deep dive into CN, OS, Algorithms, OOPs, and Cloud. After that, I had a manager interview where I had to figure out solutions for a case study. Finally, the MD discussed the offer and salary.
- Could you write a sorting algorithm?
- How would you implement Binary Search?
- Can you solve the Counting Coins problem?
Product Marketing Manager
I really liked this company and went through 4 or so rounds of interviews. I would not consider Uptycs a priority if you are serious about your job search because they are very wishy-washy. They were going to offer me a job, then changed to contract to hire, then to a 1099 work arrangement. Then they rescinded the offer that was never even given! They wasted a lot of my time. The company is very much engineering-led, so if you have something else to offer, it will not be appreciated. On the plus side, I interviewed with a great group of people who were very nice and easy to talk to and would be a joy to work with.
- Be careful. They have a solution like many others and it's not that complicated, but if you don't talk about it in an engineering-led way that Uptycs agrees with, you're done.
Software Engineer
The interview process lasted for two weeks and involved three rounds. The first round focused on common Data Structures and Algorithms questions, including LeetCode easy and medium problems. The interviewer was friendly and interactive. The second round was less enjoyable, not due to difficulty, but because the interviewer seemed unsure of the questions they were asking. Despite correct answers, they insisted on their own flawed approach, suggesting a lack of understanding. My recommendation to the company is to dismiss interviewers who lack the competence to conduct interviews effectively.
- Given an array of integers, return indices of the two numbers such that they add up to a specific target.
- JavaScript questions
- Write a function to flatten a nested array.
Big Data Engineer
The recruiter personally reached out and pushed me to interview even though I wasn't actively looking. They set up a technical discussion, and then... complete radio silence for ages. Seriously, no one is too busy to send a quick message, even if it didn't go well. We make time for them, so they should show some basic respect. Awful HR experience, really speaks volumes about the company culture.
- Were any irrelevant questions asked?
- Were the questions more suited for a Software Development Engineer role?
