First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UPS.
Sales
The recruiter missed the first interview date and then called late for the rescheduled one. They asked really weird questions that had nothing to do with the job or my experience. I was asked about my favorite color and a strange hypothetical about being a worm and still wanting to work at UPS. I don't know how to answer that, it felt like a joke but it was an official UPS contact. I said that if I were a worm, I'd have other priorities besides sales jobs, and the recruiter seemed put off, hinting it might not be a good fit. I think worms shouldn't come up in interviews because it's irrelevant. What answer would have worked? It was a very odd experience, almost like a prank, but it was set up through official UPS channels.
- What's your favorite color and why?
- In a hypothetical scenario, if you were a worm, would you still have the desire to work at UPS?
Sales
After my application was reviewed, I had to do a time-delayed video interview. I got 3 tries and could use the best one. There were 8 questions in total. Salary expectations had to be answered in writing. The last two questions were in English. The next step was a 15-minute friendly phone call with HR about my motivation, why Sales, why UPS, and if I'm willing to relocate. They also answered all my questions about the trainee program. Then I got invited to a Zoom call with two women. It was also very friendly, no tricky questions. We simulated a sales pitch and got feedback. The call lasted 30-40 minutes and left a great impression. The final step is another Zoom call with a manager.
- Could you describe your strengths and weaknesses?
- What makes you want to work for UPS?
- And why specifically in Sales?
Sales Representative
Phone interview with a panel of 4 people, including a coworker, potential boss, and their boss. They asked general questions to see how you answer. It felt like they were just going through the motions, possibly with someone else already in mind, but needing to interview others to seem thorough.
- Can you tell me about a difficult situation you faced and how you came up with an unconventional solution?
