First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UPS.
Industrial Engineer
It was a panel interview, with 3 interviewers asking questions one after another. The questions were all pretty standard, nothing too unusual. Overall, it was a very simple process compared to other interviews I've seen for similar jobs.
- Describe a time in a group project when one member wasn't pulling their weight and how you handled that situation.
Industrial Engineer
My interview was a single session that decided my job offer. UPS has a policy to interview at least 3 people, and there were 4 of us for my position. The interview was a panel setup, directed by the department manager, with department supervisors (who would be my bosses) also present. There were 4 interviewers in total. The main questions asked were about my current experience at UPS, my future aspirations, and any improvements I've made to operations or systems. The third question was the most important. After being chosen from the group, I was told the two main reasons for the offer were my positive energy and my answer about past operational improvements.
- Tell me about your current experience at UPS.
- What are your future plans?
- What improvements have you made to the operation or a system?
Industrial Engineer
I applied on the UPS website, but a manager from another department contacted me about a different position. The interview process was really long. First, I met with the manager who called me; he thought I was a good fit, so he started the official UPS interview process with HR. Second, I had a background check and took a written exam at UPS that included math, writing, and behavior questions. My results were good, so we moved on. Third, I met with 4-5 UPS employees for a typical interview where they graded my answers. I got a satisfactory score and moved on. Fourth, I visited the actual office where I would work if hired. I interviewed with the regional director, who then introduced me to the hiring manager. The hiring manager had a casual interview with me and gave me some background on his team's project. No technical questions were asked throughout the entire process because it's an entry-level position. All questions were behavior/scenario-based or related to my past work experience.
- Could you tell me about your current job responsibilities?
- What makes you a suitable candidate for this role?
