First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UPS.

I had a really bad experience with this hiring process. I got a mix of emails and texts, but no clear instructions. They told me I passed the in-person orientation, but never said where it was, so I never went. I've been opening help tickets because I keep getting texts to show up at a job site and report to a supervisor, but I've never been given a supervisor's name. All the help numbers just redirect me to i9 help, and they tell me to contact my supervisor. It's a frustrating loop.
- What does your driving record look like?
- Are there any issues that would come up on a background check?

I started with some online videos about the difficult nature of the work. After being asked several times if I still wanted to continue, I was offered a driving test. I scheduled and completed the test with a UPS manager, who let me practice on the UPS lot before we drove on the street. The interview was limited apart from some questions about my prior driving experience. After passing and being told my results would be submitted the same day, things got strange. The next morning, I got a call saying I was scheduled for a test that morning and hadn't shown up. I contacted the employment line and was told my results weren't submitted. It seems UPS has a way to discriminate by lying and using deceptive practices, like rescheduling a completed test and then claiming I missed it.
- Beyond "we deliver packages," what else do you know about UPS?
Driver
The process was great, and I found out right away that I got the job. I was given all the info I needed about training and met my future coworkers and the other successful candidates. They give you a maths and english test, and some common sense questions for the job.
