The interview process was okay, with standard questions, although the organization really didn't value the role enough. The job offer was way less than I expected for the amount of work involved. The interviewers were nice and knew what they were looking for, explaining the role clearly. I guess the University needed someone quickly but didn't want to pay for the necessary experience or education, which seemed odd for this position. The benefits were good, and it seemed like a great place to work, it just didn't offer enough pay for the responsibilities. They also asked if I could handle the drive to Fayette.

It started with a phone interview with about 7 people from the search committee. It was an hour long and mostly about my professional background and how I've handled specific situations, plus my experience with different populations. Then I was invited for a full day on-campus interview. That day involved meeting with various groups like the search committee, students, and staff, plus one-on-one meetings with my direct supervisor and her supervisor. The day was emotionally draining but gave a great sense of the campus vibe and the people.

We accept applications via email. The process is quite long and there's not much communication from Upper Iowa University before the interview. The contact person for applications is an office-level staff member in the Human Resource Department. A committee reviews cover letters and resumes, and each member ranks candidates based on their experience and skills as listed in the job descriptions. We do a group interview where each applicant is asked the same questions.

The interview process was standard, starting with an HR screen, followed by a phone interview, and then a Zoom meeting. It took about a month from applying to hearing back. The pay seems really low. It might be acceptable for the residential campus in Fayette, but for some centers in major cities, the pay scale doesn't match the cost of living.
