First there was a phone screen, checking my resume. Then an in-person interview with a panel, that had the hiring manager. The interview was 1.5 hrs long, and it was the only interview I had since the decision-maker was in the panel. They mostly asked questions about the qualifications they were looking for.

  • Can you describe a situation where you had to step in during a challenging employee issue? What was your initial approach and how did you organize your plan?

Behavioral Group Presentation

This interview process, originating from the College of Letters & Sciences, was a very poor experience. There was a lack of communication throughout, particularly after the initial stages. It also included surprise assignments and an awkward 'conversation' with a group of people, which made for a haphazard and ineffective way to measure my skills. It didn't feel like an equitable process for those who process and learn differently. They should consider updating their process if they want quality candidates. I can safely say this experience has turned me off from UW jobs in general, for fear I'd have to deal with the same thing again.
