First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire.
Research Assistant
The interview process was pretty straightforward. The faculty are keen for you to succeed and are happy to guide you on what you need to know for the job. You don't really need to study much beforehand, just be prepared and ready to contribute in your field.
- What makes you interested in data?
Safety Manager
We had a big group interview panel with different stakeholders asking questions specific to the role. It was a virtual interview for a new position in a building that was under construction.
- Can you tell me about your experience with chemical safety and handling chemicals?
Student Services Coordinator
It was a full day interview process. It included an interview with a committee, then a presentation to that committee. After that, I had an interview with some key faculty members. Later, I had lunch with the director, followed by a meeting with a dean. The day concluded with a meeting with the unit director. The people involved were really up-to-date on the field and seemed well-prepared, which was nice because I did my interview prep.
- What motivates your interest in working at UW-Eau Claire?
- Can you describe a challenging student scenario you've managed effectively?
- How would you approach a difficult situation involving faculty?
Program Manager
The prep was more cumbersome than the interview itself. I was asked to prepare a continuing education project proposal, including feasibility and other details. The entire department joined the interview, including some staff that had only been there a week. Was contacted a few weeks later saying that there was not room in the budget for this position anymore.
- Tell me about a time you had to solve a problem with limited information.
