Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at University of Sydney.
Tutor
The interview process was very brief, only lasting about 4 minutes. Although I didn't think I was successful initially, I was contacted about a week before the semester started. I believe having a referral from the TA at the time was crucial for getting the interview. Normally, just filling out the form and indicating interest in specific units doesn't yield responses for most people I know. My advice is to reach out to the unit coordinators directly, but still complete the form as it's a requirement.
- Were you asked about prior experience tutoring?
Tutor
The interview process was a professor interview where they asked knowledge questions mostly from the unit of study content. The difficulty was average, but unfortunately, I didn't pass. It was a positive interview experience overall, even though I didn't get the job.
- Could you explain what a pointer in C signifies?
Tutor
The interview process was excellent. The professor asked me only 2 questions to get to know me better. I felt really relaxed and good. Then I accepted the offer. There weren't too many technical questions, they just asked if I had experience being a tutor.
- Can you tell me about yourself and your previous experience?
