First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at University of Southern Indiana.
Marketing Specialist
The hiring process at the University can drag on a bit before they get around to scheduling interviews. It involves a few interviews at different levels, and if you make it to the final stage, you'll probably have to give a presentation to a group.
- What are your strongest qualities?
- Can you describe a challenging situation you had with a colleague and how you resolved it?
Academic Advisor
I had a phone interview first, and then an in-person one that included a presentation. The schedule seemed overwhelming at first, but the meetings were actually fine. I met with the search committee, team members, HR, and the director. After that, I gave my presentation and did a campus tour. Everyone was really nice and helped me feel comfortable.
- What motivates you to seek this position?
- How do your qualifications align with the requirements of this role?
- Can you share examples of times when...
Marketing Intern
I found out about this internship through my school's career services and applied. I got a call to schedule an interview which was only about 20 minutes long. They asked about my past experiences and what I could bring to the role. The interviewer was friendly and explained the intern's responsibilities really well. About a week later, I received an offer.
- Could you tell me about yourself and why you decided to apply for this particular internship?
Faculty
Met with faculty and some administrators who weren't prepared. Most of the interviewers were great though. The administrators just made small talk. Some of the faculty seemed really invested in whether I would accept the position.
- I know we can't really ask this, but are you married?
