First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at University of North Texas.
Teaching Assistant
The interview process involved a couple of typical questions, such as inquiries about your motivation for pursuing a PhD, your preferred choice of professor to work with, and your post-graduation aspirations.
- What is your motivation for pursuing a PhD?
- Is there a specific professor you are interested in working with?
- What are your career goals after graduation?
Psychology Lecturer
They flew me out to interview for this job, even though they already had someone in mind for the faculty position. This is pretty standard in academia and it’s just a waste of time for candidates, leaving their families behind with false hope.
- Can you tell us about your research?
Postdoctoral Researcher
The interview process was fair. They gave us the answers beforehand and took notes during the interview to compare our responses. The questions were the same for all candidates. They didn't ask for references but did inquire about published works.
- What kind of music do you enjoy?
- Could you share details about your technical background?
- What drives your interest in this position?
Lab Assistant
We did an on campus interview. They asked questions about my previous experience and projects. Then they asked some technical questions on how I would approach things in a certain way. Communication skills matter a lot during the interview.
- Could you walk me through your most recent project?
- Tell me about your past experience and projects.
- What are your proposed methods for handling certain technical scenarios?
