First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at University of New Mexico.
Front Desk Receptionist
The interview setting was unprofessional and I received no follow-up after interviewing. I had to contact them myself to learn they had chosen another candidate. This role was intended to be a step down from my current position.
- What do you consider most important in a job?
HR Technician
The process was straightforward. Be ready to provide examples using the STAR method. If you're a student, leverage the skills you've learned in college. Make sure you have good references and wear professional attire. Arrive early and introduce yourself in a professional manner.
- What qualities do you possess that make you a suitable candidate for this role?
Staff Accountant
The interview usually involves a panel, including the hiring manager and people you'd work with. They explained the interview structure beforehand and gave us the questions to follow along. It's mostly behavioral questions, plus some about UNM policies. The process can differ slightly between UNM departments, but this is the general setup.
- What is your level of understanding regarding UNM Policies and Procedures?
Technical Analyst
It was just one interview, really focused on behavioral questions. I spoke with two people, the manager and a senior analyst. The whole thing took about an hour. I got a call back the next week, and then an offer about three weeks after that.
- Describe a situation where you had to handle a difficult coworker. What steps did you take to resolve it, and what was the outcome?
