First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at University of Montana.
Program Specialist
Interviews for an entry-level admin role at the university. The pay was decent for the time but not a living wage. It included a take-home assignment over a few days where I had to prepare a proposal and draft both an internal and external communication.
- How would you handle challenging collaborators and manage projects that move quickly?
Assistant Professor
They were really organized and responded quickly to applications. There was a panel of interviewers who knew their stuff about the field. The interview included some general questions about the role and then more about me, like why I wanted to do this job and what I'd done before.
- What prior teaching experience do you have?
- What drives your interest in this field?
- Can you elaborate on your past experiences?
Resident Assistant
This interview really focuses on your ideas for building community. They'll also ask about your extracurricular activities. You'll need to give a presentation where you outline events you're thinking of hosting.
- Can you list some of the resources available on campus?
Administrative Assistant
I applied online through the University of Montana's hiring system. After applying, HR called me to see if I was interested in an interview. I got scheduled for an interview later that week. Once I got to campus for the semester, they offered me the position and I started right away. Training was pretty straightforward.
- Can you describe your experience in customer service?
- Tell me about a time you had to handle a challenging customer.
