First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at University of Minnesota Medical Center.
Molecular Technologist
Applied online and got a call from HR to set up an interview with the Lab Manager. Had the first interview, which included a tour of the labs, meeting employees, and getting familiar with the equipment and work. HR called to check references. If references check out, HR will call to set up a second interview with a technologist, lead, and manager. Waiting to hear about hiring decisions.
- Tell me about your background.
- Can you describe each lab processing technique?
- How would you handle ethics situations?
Registered Nurse
First, a recruiter gave me a call to ask some basic questions. After that, I had a phone interview with the manager of the department. Then came the main nursing interview, which had a lot of behavioral questions and also many scenario-based questions. They also took some time to explain the unit's basics.
- Can you share an instance where you disagreed with a manager and how you resolved it?
Human Resources Manager
Standard application and interview. The hiring manager seemed distracted and wasn't really engaged during the interview. She asked really general questions and didn't even wait for my answers. It was obvious from the start that she wasn't interested in continuing the interview.
- Can you tell me about your medical experience?
Anatomical Pathology Technician
had a short interview with both lab managers. it was a very informal interview where we talked about the position and what would be expected of me if i got hired. then i was asked to explain how this would be beneficial to me and why i was interested in this position.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment with this organization?
