First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at University of Liverpool.
Content Designer
For this interview, I had to do a 10-minute presentation where I redesigned a web page. After that, they asked me questions about content design and current issues in higher education that universities are dealing with. The people were super friendly and it was a really great experience overall.
- What challenges is higher education currently facing?
Administrator
They made me fill out a straightforward application and then had an interview that was about 30 mins long. It wasn't too hard but you do need to prep for it. They asked about 7 or 8 questions. Using the STAR method is really helpful to score points as it's a points based system.
- How would you prioritize your tasks for the day? Also, what would you do if you encountered a difficult query and no manager was available?
- How do you prioritize your day? What do you do if there's a difficult query and no manager is around?
3D Artist
It was an unhealthy atmosphere, a horrible experience, I do not recommend it. The vacancy description was blurry and it felt like they didn't know what they really wanted from the candidate. This led to awkward situations when they asked questions from different specializations, like Animation, and my answers were met with a strange smile.
- How would you do X?
- Questions about technical aspects, "how will you do..." without the possibility of showcasing and actually doing a task.
Career Coach
Submitted an application and CV, then got shortlisted. Had an automatic interview and an assessment day. The assessment day included a group assessment and an individual interview with a team member. They asked questions about problem solving and customer service. The assessment day was at the studio with other candidates and the team, and it was a chance to see the potential workplace.
- How would you welcome a student to the studio?
