First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at University of Illinois Foundation.
Sales Development Representative
First, you'll do an initial phone call where you give a pitch. If that goes well, you'll get a callback to set up a phone interview. They'll email you the details of the phone interview, giving you time to prep. Then, you'll basically do a telemarketer pitch where the hiring manager pretends to be a university alum, and you have to convince them to donate to a university fund.
- Given my student loan debt, why should I donate to the university?
Student Development Representative
It started with a phone interview where I had to do a mock phone conversation. I was given a script to follow, and my goal was to build rapport and persuade the interviewer to donate to the Foundation. After that, there was a group interview where everyone was asked different questions.
- Tell me why you think you're the right fit for this position.
- What part of campus do you find particularly important?
Investment Analyst
It was a behavioral interview with many questions about your interest in the company and role. There were also questions about your understanding of investment fundamentals. Some basic questions dug into your personal interests and motivations.
- Could you tell me about a book you've read recently?
Telemarketer
You start with a 15-minute phone call, and if you pass that, you go to an in-person interview which is all behavioral. They give you a presentation and put you in a group with 6-8 people and ask you three different questions.
- Tell me about a time you faced a challenge and how you dealt with it.
