I applied online and they reached out via email asking for more info. I then had an interview that went okay, but it was pretty basic. The place itself was really dirty and not kept up well.

The interview process was good. I met with kind supervisors and experienced a healthy working environment. There were a good number of opportunities, and everyone was given an equal chance. The supervisors are really helpful and will guide us well.

First, you gotta fill out an application, and then there's this test to get on a list. You need to be in the top three on that list to even get a shot at an interview. If they offer you an interview, you have a really short time to say yes. If you say no, they expect you to tell them to take your name off the list because they're only interviewing the top three anyway. If you do accept, you'll meet with the Registrar and your direct supervisor. They'll ask you a bunch of questions about your past experience, how you work with others, and how you handle different scenarios. After they've talked to everyone, they'll let you know if you got the job offer or not.

I got Federal Work Study, which allowed me to apply for on-campus jobs like this one. I found the listing on a job board about a week into the semester and sent in my resume through the university's application system. About four days later, I got an email asking to schedule an interview, which I accepted. I dressed professionally and greeted the Learning Center staff with a friendly attitude. They took me to a room for a one-on-one interview where we talked about my writing abilities, my availability, and we went over a writing sample I had corrected and brought with me. That was pretty much it for the questions. At the end, they thanked me and mentioned I was very likely to get the job, but they were waiting on funding approval from higher-ups before they could officially hire me. I was feeling pretty good about it. A week went by with no word, so I emailed to check in. The next day, they replied, still waiting on the funding confirmation due to state budget issues, but expected to have an update in two to three days. Eventually, I got an email saying I didn't get the job because of the funding issues, which was a bummer after feeling so confident about getting hired.
