The interview had very genuine questions that tested my subject matter knowledge and also probed my intellectual direction and philosophy. They were open to questions about the workplace in return, but honestly, there's a bit of insincerity in the formality of the interview. Everything is extremely well regulated, if you get my point. It felt like a recruiter call followed by a phone screen.

I interviewed for a Heritage Internship. The process was straightforward and professional but not overly formal. There were two interviewers (a heritage officer and a learning manager) and the whole thing lasted about 40 minutes. They started by asking about my background and why I was interested in heritage work. Then they moved into competency-style questions.

The interview process was pretty standard, with SMART objective type questions, but what was weird is that the job description didn't really match the actual role and the questions they asked. I felt like the interview was harder than it needed to be because the job spec was kind of misleading. They asked a lot about old, outdated processes and systems that aren't really used much anymore.

I saw the job on the University careers site and they got back to me about two weeks later offering an in-person interview. They asked me about my technical skills, any research I'd done, and about reporting procedures. There were 4 people interviewing me: the head of the research facility, the lab manager, and two other researchers. After the interview, they showed me around the lab facilities.
