The interview process felt disrespectful. It started with a form with very short answer limits, then a practice assignment given less than 48 hours to complete during a busy work week. I got this assignment and a link to schedule an interview at the same time, with the interview slot being three days after receiving the email. This meant I had to complete the assignment and attend the interview in less than three days, which was really stressful and took a lot of time. After all this, I got a generic rejection, which felt disrespectful given the effort I put in.

I applied a while ago and after a long wait, I got an email for an interview. It was a recorded interview where I had to follow instructions and submit my answers. I didn't hear back for a long time. I followed up with the contacts but got no response. Weeks later, they let me know I was still being considered and would be updated on the next steps. I followed up again weeks later and still no response. Today, I received a standard rejection email. It took 2 months and was a terrible process.

I had a Zoom interview where the interviewers kept their cameras off, which they said was to prevent bias. I wasn't allowed to ask questions. If I were to do it again, I'd try to see if they'd at least looked at my resume. It was so weird and uncomfortable that I don't think my answers were good. I was really excited to work with them, but after that, I wouldn't work there and would even discourage people from taking classes there or applying.

There are two rounds of interviews. The first round is with the search committee, lasting about 20 minutes and involves 5 people from the department. If successful, you'll proceed to a second round, an all-day affair with a colloquium. This day includes several interviews over 8 hours, starting with the same search committee and concluding with the Dean or a DEI representative. Interviews can be 20, 30, or 60 minutes long. The colloquium is about an hour, and your presentation is 40 minutes. You'll get the presentation topics a week in advance, followed by a Q&A session. The colloquium might be recorded if it's via Zoom.
