Residence Coordinator
It was a really good interview, and you'll definitely need to prepare for it, especially if you've never worked in housing before. It's a team of people who ask questions, but they already have them planned out and are ready and willing to answer the questions you ask.
- How would you handle situations involving diversity?
Assistant Professor
The interview process included a Skype call a few weeks after applying, followed by an on-campus visit about two weeks later. The campus visit involved meetings with college administrators, HR, departmental faculty, and a presentation. At the end of the interview, I was told they were confident about making an offer within two weeks. A week later, they mentioned HR needed to see another candidate for administrative reasons, but I was still assured an offer was coming. After waiting four weeks, I inquired about the status and was informed they had offered the position to another candidate earlier that week, which I found unprofessional given the mixed messages.
- Were you capable of teaching three different courses in a single semester?
Graduate Assistant
I sent in my resume and job application documents in late June. I finally received a call from the department in mid September. I set up an appointment for an interview. I was interviewed by the department director and the secretary at the same time in the director's office. They described the various tasks I would have and asked if I would be able to handle all of it. They then asked about different areas of leadership and about my past work experiences. They also asked about my expertise with computer hardware and software. Overall, it was a decent interview. It was relaxed and not too formal.
- Can you describe a time you led or showed leadership? How did you handle it and what happened?
Adjunct Instructor
Got the job through someone I knew at UCA who passed my resume to the head of the hiring department. We emailed back and forth, then met up in person to talk about what the course and department are trying to achieve.
- Can you tell me about your experience teaching college students?
- How much experience do you have with the language you'll be teaching?
- What are your views on textbooks for this course?
