I applied to the engineering department for a student worker position. They reached out and I had one in-person interview. They asked about 25 questions and then offered me the campus job. It was a straightforward process, and they were very flexible about the role. They called me after the interview to offer me the job.

Applied for the role and after 4 months, I got invited to an interview. It was a Zoom video call with 4 professors. One of them just left mid-conversation without a word, which was weird, but the other three were nice. They asked me a lot of questions for about 30 minutes, and then I got to ask just one question before it ended. A month later, they let me know they're pausing the search and might restart next year with a revised job description. It would've been a good experience, but that professor leaving abruptly made it feel unprofessional.

The interview process was formal and structured. Communications for scheduling were excellent, clear, concise, timely, and accurate. The interviews themselves had a good balance of people and questions, and time was used well. The first interview was on Skype for about an hour with about 7 people including myself. It lasted the whole hour without going over, and it felt like a comprehensive screening. It went smoothly with a balanced and appropriate range of questions for the job. No loaded questions, no grandstanding, and it was clear they wanted the best candidate. The second interview was about two weeks later, in person, and lasted all day with around 6 sessions. It was similarly structured to the first but with more time for depth. My initial perceptions held true. The panels in each session, some with different people, all had a similar, uniform vibe. The sessions had a good mix of technical and non-technical questions. I felt confident about the process and the information exchanged. I was very impressed with the professionalism shown in all aspects. The body language, tone, and content of interactions were exceptional. The personal investment and dedication from everyone I spoke with were exemplary and inspiring.

I met with the president and he hired me on the spot. He asked about my extensive work history and if both my parents had passed away. We also talked about my previous work at other universities and whether I was familiar with the key people there, which I was.
