Postdoctoral Researcher
The interview process for the Associate Principal Scientist, Oncology Research role at Bayer typically involves multiple stages to assess both technical expertise and cultural fit. Based on standard industry practices and Bayer’s hiring approach, here’s what you can expect: 1. Initial Screening (Phone/Video Interview) Conducted by a recruiter or HR representative. Focuses on your background, motivation for applying, and overall fit for the role. Common questions: Why are you interested in Bayer and this position? What are your key skills and experiences in oncology research? What are your salary expectations and availability?
- Can you share an instance where you took the lead on a research project?
- In a team setting, how do you approach and resolve scientific disagreements?
- What strategies do you employ to balance your time when working on several projects concurrently?
Software Engineer
It was 2 Rounds. First was a technical interview with the team lead/tech lead, focusing on technical skills needed for the project through questions and answers. The second interview was with the manager, covering salary negotiation and assessing organizational fit.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Tell me about what you have done in your previous project.
Doctoral Candidate
They were nice and polite, didn't ask about basic science background, only about prior research project and motivation. (Example: What will you do if we don't hire you?) Then there were a series of 15-minute chats with senior scientists you picked during application. Questions depend on the team lead. The next day, there were 2-hour deep-dive chats. After the chats, a committee evaluates all students and decides if you are a fit for the role.
- What is your plan if you are not hired?
- Tell me about your previous research project.
- What motivates you?
Research Assistant
The hiring was made through personal contact. First, the chair was introduced, then I presented my CV. There were technical questions. Overall, a very pleasant conversation atmosphere. No HR person was present. Many questions about possible research projects (since it was an application for a postdoc position). I also had to talk a bit about my own teaching experience.
- How did you find out about us?
- Could you elaborate on your CV and how it relates to this role?
- What are your ideas for future research projects?
