Presentation

It was a pretty open and professional job interview process. First, there was an open job call on the website. Then, really good organization with emails follow-up and travel organization. The final interview round was a master thesis presentation.

The first interview was just straight asking your detailed research plan. This was without any ongoing projects with the professor. And the expected international conference or academic development is rather limited.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

The overall experience was really nice. I chatted with the Principal Investigator (PI) and other lab folks (PhDs, post-docs) who joined the call to share more about the project and ask additional questions. They started by explaining the project's specifics, and I got to ask my own questions and express my enthusiasm for joining the team. Then, they asked me some technical questions to check my knowledge level in the area. It was a very pleasant chat with some prominent researchers.

The magazine manager gave a tour of the central library's magazines. To test the physical demands, I had to lift a newspaper bundle and carry it for some distance. Sorting the bundles by size and year was part of the job. Then, the actual interview started with two other employees and the Equal Opportunities Officer. Since it was a temporary position, it was understood that not much work experience was expected and no long-term commitment was anticipated. This was reiterated to avoid misunderstandings. The employer values teamwork and a diverse workforce, as indicated by the significant input from the Equal Opportunities Officer during the discussion.
