First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Universal Protection Service.
Security Guard
I went to the mall and they directed me to the Universal Protection website to apply. I had to pick a town I wanted to work in. The next day, I got an email to come in for an interview and was told to bring my social, SORA card, and driver's license. They mentioned they interview Saturdays through Mondays, and I chose the following Saturday. When I got to the office, the receptionist wasn't there because it was a Saturday, so I spoke with two managers. They first gave me a short quiz to fill out. After that, the managers talked about the company and its policies, and I just had to agree, smile, and respond briefly, maintaining eye contact. They explained the job is mainly customer service and involves a lot of walking. After the interview, they went outside and offered me the job. I completed some paperwork, and they conducted a drug test right then and there.
- Could you describe everything you observed upon arriving at the office?
- What was your reason for choosing Universal Security?
- Which SORA school did you attend for training?
Security Guard
The interview process felt very much like a 'take it or leave it' situation. I had to wait over an hour, and the actual interview was only about 5 minutes long. My general dealings with UPS have always involved long waits, then they'd briefly get to the point and leave. This experience was consistent with that.
- I have one job opening for you. It involves riding a bike through downtown traffic and interacting with homeless individuals. Are you interested or not?
Security Officer
I went to the dispatch area and met some of the current employees. Then, a shift supervisor escorted me upstairs to meet with the security director for the location, who conducted the interview. She asked me about my past work experience, my current goals, and my future aspirations with the company. She also explained the job expectations, fitted me for my work uniform, and hired me right then and there.
- Could you please tell me a little about yourself?
