First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Universal Avionics.
Software Verification Engineer
First I talked to HR, it wasn't technical. Then I had a more technical interview with the manager. After that, the manager sent me to a conference room with two current employees who interviewed me further on technical topics.
- Are you familiar with writing and reading test scripts?
Software Engineer
The interview process felt long, but it went pretty smoothly. It started with a 30-minute HR phone chat, then an hour-long technical phone interview, and finally a six-hour onsite. The onsite included four technical interviews with different engineers and one HR interview. Most of the interviews were focused on coding questions and exercises. They were good about making it comfortable, though. I only had to use a whiteboard for simple stuff; for the harder coding problems, they gave me a laptop. The technical interviews were one-on-one, which made them feel less intense than they could have been.
- Could you explain what a vtable is?
Management
Got contacted to schedule an interview real quick after the first call. First interview was with the department manager and another employee from the department, kinda like a group interview. They each had a list of questions and asked them one by one. The whole thing took about an hour. About two hours later, they called me back for a second interview the next day with the CFO and the VP of Marketing. I met with them separately, and the vibe was way more chill than the first round. Each of those interviews lasted about an hour. Got the offer a couple days after the second interviews. Had to do a drug test and the background check started. My start date was set for two weeks out.
- Have you encountered situational questions like these before?
Technical Writer
It was a group interview, met multiple members of the org. Had a round table with straight questions about my background. Then met the head of each department and got a tour.
- Can you tell me about your background and how it relates to this job?
