First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Unitek Learning.
Office Manager
I applied online and heard back about a week later. I had a phone screen and was told there would be one or two more interviews, one in person and one via video. A recruiter was supposed to contact me the day before each to confirm, offering only a 24-hour window, which was tricky since I'm still working full-time, something I'd already told them. I agreed and took time off work for what I thought would be two interviews. However, after the video and in-person ones, I ended up having three more video interviews, making it a total of five. At the very end, I was told they can't hire for this position due to budget issues. The interviews themselves were fine, questions weren't too hard, and the interviewers were polite and punctual. I just didn't appreciate being told about two interviews and then having five, only to be rejected at the end because of budget. I definitely won't apply here again.

- Why are you a suitable candidate for this role?
Financial Aid Advisor
The interview process started with a phone call from HR. After that, I had an in-house interview with the Director of Financial Aid, and I also met the President of the campus. It was a pretty straightforward interview process. They didn't ask any technical questions, just behavioral ones to see if I would be a good fit for the team.
- Can you describe a time you independently handled a challenging situation?
Graduate Employment Specialist
After a verbal job offer, the HR team ghosted me. The interview process included a pre-screen (1st interview), and then 2nd and 3rd interviews with regional directors, all completed within two weeks. I received a verbal offer from the recruiter the day after my last interview. We entered salary negotiations, where I asked for more money before Thanksgiving. I gave them a week to respond. When I followed up about the offer, the recruiter never replied, effectively ghosting me. It's advisable to avoid this company if this is how they treat candidates. Their Talent Acquisition team needs improvement. If they couldn't offer a higher salary, they should have had the decency to inform the candidate instead of ghosting them, as my time interviewing is also valuable. It's unfortunate for those who interviewed me, as it was a waste of their time and resources. Another Unitek employee also mentioned that their HR department is quite bad and implements new policies without much notice.
- How would you advise a student who graduated but is not actively seeking employment?
- Can you provide an instance of encountering a challenging work problem and detail how you resolved it?
- Recount a situation where you were under significant work-related stress. How did you handle it?
Professor
The interview process was really disorganized. It started with a phone interview that felt all over the place. I was supposed to get a personality test, but it never came. When I followed up, the recruiter seemed put off because I thanked her for the interview and assumed I wasn't selected since I didn't get the test. She eventually sent it over. Then, I was told I'd be interviewed, but then they said my selection wouldn't work and asked if I could interview during my lunch break. I contacted the recruiter again, said I'd do it during lunch, and that interviews were happening that week. After that, I never heard back. I can only imagine how this company operates with an interview process like this!
