First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at United States Federal Courts.
Management Analyst
The interview process was pretty straightforward, with technical and background questions that were pretty standard for the industry. I had the option for a virtual interview via Microsoft Teams, which felt very conversational. They followed up in a timely and relevant manner.
- Could you share an instance where you applied your skills to a significant project involving diverse stakeholders?
IT Technician
The first interview was a 30-min phone call where I had to explain my work experience. The second interview was a Webex with managers, and I had to talk about my career, my current job, and the problems I run into. The third and final meeting was with the Clerk of the Court, which wasn't really an interview, but more of a check-in to see if I had any concerns.
- Can you elaborate on your previous work experience?
- What are your thoughts on troubleshooting these issues?
- How would you handle these types of situations?
IT Technician
The hiring process was quite lengthy. After the initial interviews, there weren't enough suitable candidates, so HR decided to re-list the job opening. My future supervisor assured me it wouldn't be an issue and revised the job posting to ensure I would be considered. This whole process took several months. Both interviews involved three interviewers each. It seemed like whoever was available was assigned, as the panels were different each time, suggesting a minimum number of interviewers was required.
- Can you describe your experience working with the SirsiDynix API?
Clerk
It was a very thorough interview process with 3 interviews in total. There was one initial screen, then an interview with the Judge, and finally one with the clerks. The first interview was over the phone, and the subsequent two were in person. They didn't really discuss specific case issues, but rather focused on approaches. A lot of questions were about handling conflict and how you'd approach working with other chambers.
- Can you describe your judicial philosophy?
