First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at United Nations FCU.
Marketing Automation Specialist
I went through two interview rounds. After the first one, I had to do a take-home assignment. I built a website, wrote a SQL query, and then explained how I'd structure a journey using the data. The team liked my work, but I didn't hear anything for six weeks and then got rejected. It was a bummer after all that effort and the positive feedback, but I'm looking for jobs where communication is better and they follow through, because that's the kind of team I want.
- What qualities do you look for in a team environment?
Member Service Representative
I saw the job on LinkedIn and applied on their site. After about two weeks, the recruiter reached out for an online psychometric test that also required a video recording. The results came out four days later, and I was invited to a Zoom interview. This interview required me to prepare a 15-minute presentation to be delivered in two days. The interview itself went really well, and the recruiter was great. Two days after that, I got feedback that I had passed and would be invited for an onsite interview. It took a month and two weeks to get the invitation for the onsite interview. I had the onsite interview the following week at the unfcu office in UN Nairobi. I interviewed with the regional manager and the department supervisor, and they were fantastic, making me feel comfortable and positive throughout. After the interview, I waited a month and three weeks for feedback. Overall, I really like the organization and hope to work with them someday. The entire process spanned 5 months and included 5 stages.
- Can you describe an instance where your focus on service was evident?
- What is your approach to dealing with a coworker you find difficult?
- In what ways do you differentiate yourself from others?
Senior Recruiter
I applied for the Senior Recruiter position and got a call from the hiring manager who wanted to set up a first interview. That interview was pretty standard and pleasant. Soon after, the hiring manager set up a second interview with their reporting manager, which was also pretty standard and pleasant. They mentioned there would be one more round, mainly to meet the team. I got feedback that I seemed like a strong candidate after both interviews. When I followed up with the hiring manager, she said she was still interviewing people and would get back to me, and that I was being considered. But then, she totally ghosted me. I never heard back and didn't even get a rejection email. I know firsthand how crazy recruiting can get, but when a candidate invests their time and you've met and talked with them, the least you can do is let them know they're not moving forward. It’s basic professionalism and reflects on your brand in the market.
- Can you describe your overall experience in recruiting?
- What's your approach to sourcing candidates?
- How do you build relationships with candidates and hiring managers?
Data Operations Analyst
I first spoke with HR, then the hiring manager, and finally an associate. The whole process took about 2 hours. They read questions from a guideline. It seemed like the company is behind technologically, and I wouldn't be able to use my software skills much because they don't have tables set up for use. A lot of data mining would be necessary. If I got an offer, it would be just for the salary, not for any growth. I didn't get the offer because they wanted someone with predictive analytics experience, even though they weren't ready for that yet.
- Can you describe your past analytical work?
- What's your background in predictive analytics?
