First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at United Cerebral Palsy.
Respite Worker
The interview questions weren't too scary, but they really wanted to understand your personality and see that you're responsible and compassionate. It's important to them that they feel they can trust you.
- How would you handle behavioral issues?
Occupational Therapist
I met with the supervisor, she showed me around the building. Then I went to the therapy department and talked with some therapists there. I was supposed to meet with HR next, but they had already left for the day. The supervisor mentioned HR would handle any follow-up questions. However, when I went to their office, they had already left. Apparently, they knew about my back issues and didn't want to speak with me. The job involves a lot of heavy lifting of adult patients, and I was going to decline because I didn't feel qualified, but they didn't give me the chance.
- Tell me about the populations you've previously worked with.
- Are you comfortable working with adults, which involves lifting, moving, and standing for extended periods?
Critical Care Coordinator
I applied through CareerLink and heard back two months later for an interview with the director and supervisor. They asked a lot about my experience. Both were really nice and easy to talk to. After the interview, I had to fill out a company application. Everyone I met was kind and professional. It seems like a great place to work. I haven't gotten an offer yet because they had other interviews scheduled later.
- Tell me about a situation where you had to handle a conflict. What steps did you take and what happened in the end?
Director
Saw the job posting online and sent in my resume. Then I had my first interview with HR, followed by a second interview with HR and the VP of programming. The final interview was with the VP of programming and the CEO. Each interview was on a separate day. I was informed that there were other candidates interviewing for the role as well.
