Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Uniqlo.
Sales Advisor
There are 3 interviews for full-timers. First is a phone interview with basic questions. Second is a group interview where they ask you questions about the company and you have to do group exercises to see who leads best. Third is a one-on-one interview.
- Tell me about how you would fit into the Uniqlo culture.

The first interview is a group one. Recruiters briefly introduce the company. After the presentation, candidates break into smaller groups of 6-8 people. During this group session, there's an exercise. You need to rank tasks by importance, from 1 to 10, like cleaning a spill, picking up clothes, restocking shelves, adding missing sizes, fixing posters, dressing mannequins, correcting prices, etc. After your personal ranking, you have 10 minutes to discuss with your group and justify your choices. Remember to prioritize safety (spills, clothes on floor), then price accuracy, customer relations, and finally minor issues like crooked posters. Once done, you'll face personal questions about essential salesperson qualities or problem-solving situations. Two days after the group interview, you'll get a yes or no answer. I didn't get a 'yes' presumably because I lack sales experience. I assume successful candidates then have a one-on-one interview.
- What are the essential qualities for a good salesperson?
- Can you describe a time you had to resolve a problem independently?

There were 2 group interview dates set for us, spaced a week apart. Each interview had about 50 candidates. We started with some coffee and pastries, followed by an intro from the hiring managers and HR about Uniqlo and their personal experiences. Then, we were divided into smaller groups of 7-8 people, each led by a Uniqlo hiring manager. We answered general questions, individual questions, and did a team activity involving a case study. The group interview felt good, and I had a positive vibe about Uniqlo as a workplace. A week later, I got an offer and was told the contract would follow soon. But after another week, they said they had internal issues and needed to pause the hiring, promising updates. For a month, they were vague, saying they hadn't made a final decision. Eventually, five weeks after the offer, they informed me my application wouldn't proceed. I felt the whole delay was unnecessary and unprofessional.
- Can you tell us about yourself?
- When would you be available to start working?
- What is your availability regarding work hours?
