Financial Assistant
After submitting my CV, I had two interviews. They asked about my previous jobs, my financial abilities, and how I handle a lot of work. I was shown a profit and loss statement and asked to analyze it. We also discussed the company's organization and potential qualifications I could obtain.
- How do you handle a high volume of tasks?
Operations Manager
I applied for an operations manager position. I had two team calls with different managers for a new site, both conducted via Teams since the site wasn't finished yet. The process was pretty standard, with competency-based questions related to the job. I was told I did really well, and it became apparent this was because my current role is essentially between an operations manager and a senior operations manager in terms of responsibilities, though maybe with fewer direct reports than a senior role. This was also reflected in the offer, which for an operations manager role missed some benefits that were included in my current senior operations manager package. Because of this and their unwillingness to negotiate, I declined. However, the interviewing manager suggested a senior operations manager role might be a better fit. A month later, they advertised for a senior operations manager role, and when I applied, I got an email saying I didn't meet the criteria. It's frustrating because if they'd reviewed my previous application, they would have seen all this. It seems like a company that's okay bringing people into roles below their experience but not into a progressive one. Disappointed with how this was handled.
- Tell me about how you handle challenging team members.
Digital Leadership Graduate
First, you do tests and then submit an application. This is way better than usual as you don't waste time on applications only to fail the online tests. After that, there's a 1-on-1 interview for about an hour, with skills-based questions. Following this, a two-day assessment centre happens: you see a warehouse and some business processes. The next day involves a group task, a presentation, and another interview (each with two people, except the group exercise which has about 6 people). After completing this, you're invited to meet the CIO and CTO, and then you're either accepted or rejected.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join our company?
- What unique skills or qualities do you possess that would benefit us?
- How would you describe your self-perception?
Backend Engineer
So I had a take-home technical test with 15 questions, mostly about backend programming logic and databases. Then, an on-site panel interview with 5 senior folks. The first hour was about my technical test answers. The second hour was supposed to be about role-specific skills, but they ended up grilling me on front-end stuff and security, which wasn't what I applied for. Communication issues on their end and not confirming the job spec beforehand made it rough. They were a bit snide and overly critical too, felt pretty unprofessional and humiliating. Definitely learned to get the job spec upfront next time.
- Regarding your email address, why did you use a capital G in ...@Gmail.com instead of a lowercase g?
