First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Union Tank Car.
Software Engineer
The interview process had 3 stages with leaders asking in-depth questions. It was a great experience and I learned a lot. Hope they find the right person.
- Could you tell me about your most significant accomplishment?
Project Engineer
The interview process started with a phone screen. Then, there were two interviews with management. Initially, it was planned for one interview with both managers, but scheduling conflicts prevented that. The interviewers were friendly and engaging, and they were very open about the workplace and the nature of their work.
- Could you describe your work style and how you approach large projects?
- Do you prefer to work on a project consistently each day or complete it all at once towards the end?
QC Inspector
It was a really quick interview. I met with my three supervisors in a room, and they asked me whatever questions they thought were relevant. They also looked over my resume and asked about that, and they really went deep into my certifications, checking that my classroom hours met the requirements for each area.
- How many years of experience do you have in inspection?
- What institutions issued your certifications?
Repair Technician
It was a long and thorough interview process where I could ask questions. However, I found them untrustworthy regarding company culture and the pay scale isn't as family-oriented as they claim. Overall, it's not a company I'd recommend.
- Tell me about your knowledge in this field.
- Can you walk me through your previous work experience?
- What are your salary expectations?
