First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UNICEF USA.
Manager
They got back to me pretty quickly to set up a phone chat. It was pretty simple. They talked about the background of the job, asked me about my resume, why I was interested in joining them, and how my skills matched what they were looking for.
- What makes you want to work for UNICEF
Manager
I applied in early May and got called in for an interview at the office in late June. Since a friend referred me, I skipped the initial HR chat. After that, I had two more interviews with the managers I'd be reporting to: one phone call with the VP of Digital, and then an in-person one. The last step was an interview with the head of HR. We went back and forth a bit on salary, and then I got an offer. So, 4 interviews in total, spread out over 3 and a half months. The interviews focused heavily on my background, how I handle digital marketing, and specific projects I've done, both successful and unsuccessful. They really wanted to understand the reasoning behind my digital marketing efforts.
- Can you tell me about a project that didn't work out?
- Share an example of a project you're proud of.
- How do you approach digital marketing?
Manager
First I had a phone call with HR, then I had a competency interview with a panel. They let me know via email if I got the job about a week later. It all took under a month.
- Why are you interested in working for UNICEF USA?
- Can you explain the distinction between UNICEF and UNICEF USA?
