First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at UNFI.
Cashier
I applied online and then took an evaluation, which I passed. A few days after submitting my application, I called the store directly to speak with HR and request an interview. They set one up for a few days later. The interview itself was quite simple. I mentioned that I was also applying to another job because I needed more hours than Supervalu could offer me. When I returned to HR a week later to check on my start date, I discovered she had discarded my application because she misunderstood me and thought I wasn't coming back. However, I was eventually hired at Supervalu and completed my training within three weeks.
- In what ways do you believe you would be a valuable addition to our company?
Retail Assistant
Submitted an in-store job application with straightforward questions, then had a brief, informal chat with management. Following that, there was on-the-job training, along with decent health and safety training and okay IT training. The training on fresh food and the company's ethos and values was quite interesting, though very short and could have been expanded upon.
- In what ways can you contribute to the business's overall goals?
Cashier
Applied online and after a few weeks, I had a phone interview. Then I had an in-store interview. About a week later, I got a call about a drug test, which was emailed to me. After receiving the drug test info and completing it, I waited for another email regarding training.
- Can you share an instance where you had a conflict with someone and how you reached a resolution?
