Behavioral Presentation

The interview was in person. The CEO was HOURS late, which was amazing and unprofessional, showing a toxic environment and toxic person running the whole thing. It seems others have seen this too. They have no sense of how to grow the business. It's just another innovator with a good idea but no wisdom to execute it. The idea got press because it's interesting, but it's all surface and no substance. Proceed with extreme caution. When we finally sat down, we had a good conversation. I didn't get a second interview.

Behavioral

Initially, I was impressed with the process. We were also talking through financial terms. The company started to go through some internal and external PR issues and the process fell apart. As someone who invested much time in UP's interview process (including weekends) a simple phone call to say the position was no longer viable due to unforeseen financial complications would have been a more professional approach vs. no communication at all.

Behavioral Other

The interview process was quite fast. They had to reschedule the interview at the last minute, which wasn't ideal. The final interview was very brief, and there was no opportunity to ask any questions. The recruiting lead did mention the possibility of higher pay during the interviews and on later calls, but ultimately, this higher compensation didn't happen for several reasons.

The interview was over the phone because I was too far to commute. A team member was late to call, so I had to call them instead, which was fine since it was a small company. They asked normal questions about my resume and projects.
