We started with a nice email exchange and then had a 30 minute chat with a recruiter. After that, I had to do a two page writing assignment in 24 hours. It was a bit unclear and I didn't get much direction, which I guess makes sense if they want someone who can handle ambiguity, but the time limit was tough with family and a full-time job. After I sent it in, I waited weeks for a response, which felt really unprofessional since they said it would take about a week. I had to follow up with the recruiter, and then I quickly heard back that I didn't get the next steps. They obviously knew they weren't moving forward with me but didn't seem to care about my time. Given the commitment they ask for with the timed project, the least they could do is respond promptly.

  • The initial phone conversation wasn't really an interview, more of a chat to see if I'd be a good culture fit.

The interview process started with a brief 15-minute phone call where I was mainly asked about my years of software experience and various skills, which felt a bit repetitive given the application questions. I would have preferred a video call. Next, I was given a take-home assignment using Articulate Storyline, due within 72 hours. The instructions were open-ended, allowing for creative freedom and providing a portfolio piece I wouldn't feel exploited for. While it might be challenging for those currently employed, it was manageable for me. The final interview was a casual video call with the manager and their boss, the head of the larger team. Surprisingly, they didn't ask many questions, and the conversation flowed naturally with me asking most of them.

I applied online, and HR contacted me about a week later to set up a phone interview. The call was relaxed and professional. They asked me questions and also answered my questions about the company, the job, and the work environment. When I asked about what was next, she mentioned she'd pass my resume to the CEO. A week after that, I got an email saying they were looking for someone who was a better fit. I thanked them and asked for feedback on why I didn't get the job, but I didn't hear back. I figured it was unlikely I'd get a response since I wasn't being considered anymore, but it was worth a shot.

I was contacted via email about a hiring opening. After responding, I had a call where they went over the Role, Responsibilities, Job Requirements, and Qualifications. I mentioned my interest and asked to meet to discuss their product, services, success stories, and company culture. The CEO (Co-Founder) spent over an hour explaining their training, consulting, and platform. We also talked about my Experience, Skills, and Education as they relate to the job. I was very enthusiastic after that. Then I met with their Chief Product Officer (Co-Founder), Marketing Manager, and HR Manager. After some back-and-forth via email and phone, and a in-person interview, they gave me a Final Test, which was a 'Business Development Challenge.' It was a 90-minute scenario-based presentation using info from the interviews. A few days after presenting, I got an offer! I was impressed with their Leadership, Professionalism, Knowledge, Process, Success Stories and Talent from the moment I arrived.
