Customer Success Specialist
It started with an HR screen and then a meet and greet. I found it hard to tell what they were really looking for. I think success in this role might depend more on how well you connect with the hiring manager and fit the company culture, rather than just skills, experience, or business sense. They did get back to me quickly, though, which was nice.
- What does a perfect customer look like to you?
Software Engineer
It was a really drawn-out process, taking over two months. They claim to be a fast-paced startup, but the hiring process wasn't ideal, especially for international students. The job description asked for 2 years of experience, but then they expected someone to lead the team after joining, which felt like a criterion they decided on mid-process. There wasn't a set number of rounds; they just kept interviewing until I was exhausted.
- Are you a good team fit?
- Can you convince us you're a good fit for the team?
Product Designer
I had a meet-and-greet interview, but it felt too casual and unstructured for a first interview. The questions were vague and sometimes repeated, making it hard to know what they were really after. The interviewer's casual posture didn't help either. I think interviewers need training to ask clear questions, stay professional, and avoid personal bias. When I asked about communication and leadership, they said 'Wow, that's a lot of questions,' which discouraged me. Interviews should feel like a two-way conversation where candidates can ask questions freely.
- Can you tell me about a product you dislike?
- What about a specific feature do you hate?
- Describe your preferred learning style.
BDR
Had three interviews in total! The first one was a casual chat with the manager and SDR leader. The second interview was more intense, with mid-level sales reps grilling me. The last interview was also somewhat casual, with the CRO. All interviews were conducted online via Zoom and they made me feel welcome from the start! Just show your passion and you'll be fine.
- Tell me why you are interested in a sales career.
- Which movie did you like the most, and what's the reason behind that choice?
